The 24 dB crossovers and the newly developed horns with unusually large apertures reduce the overlap between the bass and HF channels to conjure richly detailed, articulate mids. This high-fidelity audio performance has another invaluable practical advantage: the minimized distortion increases the effective maximum sound pressure level by several dB.
The new CONTOUR X series’ hard-wearing housings are built to withstand the rigors of the road and deliver years and years of reliable service on the touring circuit. The solid birch multiplex enclosures are certainly tough enough. Painstakingly crafted at the HK Audio joinery in St. Wendel, Germany, they come with an extremely rugged PU finish and a steel front grille treated with an anticorrosive coating. And with ingress protection that is compliant with IP44 regulations, CONTOUR X speakers are very good at keeping dirt and moisture at bay.
CX 8
Remarkably compact and versatile, the CX 8 comes with a dual-purpose housing tuned to deliver very persuasive performance for a variety of applications. This unit serves as an FOH speaker with astonishingly adult fullrange capability. It is no less impressive as a high-quality monitor on cramped stages and as an inconspicuous but loud front-fill on the front edge of the stage. With its excellent speech intelligibility, it is the perfect medium for public address and vocals. And with its exceptionally wide dynamic range, uniform phase response and richly detailed midrange, the CX 8 also renders acoustic instruments with gloriously natural-sounding response. A high-quality PU finish and a front grille with anticorrosive coating provide armor-like protection on the road. The Speakon Pin Assignment switch on the rear panel sets the input signal to 1 +/- or 2 +/-. This unit comes in right and left versions, and the combination of both with a CS 118 subwoofer gives you a great club system. Another advantage of the CX 8 is that it works wonderfully with and without a controller. CS 118
This compact, direct-radiating enclosure is loaded with a high-performance 18“ subwoofer. Remarkably efficient and able to handle a great deal of power, this unit‘s unusually expansive dynamic headroom ranges down to the lowest frequencies. Multiple subwoofers—for example, in cardioid setups—are very easy to connect via the four Speakon NL4 ports, two in back and two more up front. The C-SUB 118 may be assigned to one of these two thru busses using the Pin Assignment switch. Lab.Gruppen PLM+ and Powersoft X series high-performance power amps are recommended for use with the CS 118. Special filter sets are also available for these controller-driven amps if you wish to configure cardioid or end-fire setups. The birch multiplex housing is covered in a PU finish; the solid steel front grille has been treated with an anticorrosive and is powder-coated. Caps keep dirt and moisture out of the Speakon inputs. The C-Sub 118 comes with everything it takes to keep this system up and running smoothly for a very long time to come in the challenging rental business. CS 218
The CS 218 and CS 118 subwoofers‘ characteristics, phases and dimensions are matched so they can easily be combined to configure subwoofer clusters that deliver excellent audio performance. Like the smaller CS 118, the CS 218 s dimensions are tailored for a perfect fit on standard pallets and truck beds. The CS 218 is also equipped with same four Speakon NL4 connectors as the CS 118. The Pin Assignment switch serves to assign the C-SUB 218 to one of the two speaker busses. LAB.Gruppen PLM+ and Powersoft X series high-performance power amps are recommended for use with the CS 218. Special filter sets are also available for these controller-driven amps if you wish to configure cardioid or end-fire setups.
